Classes will focus on tumbling, jumping, flexibility and strength necessary to be a complete cheerleader.  Tumbling techniques and progressions will be taught by STARS Gymnastics instructors who also have cheer background.

ATTENTION ALL GIRLS AGES 4 OR 5 WHO LOVE GYMNASTICS…

WE WANT TO HELP YOU BECOME A “STAR!”

We are looking for girls age 4 or 5 years old, who are athletic and energetic, for our new Pre-Team Program “Future Stars.”

Future Stars will be a group of girls identified as having gymnastics potential.  They will learn gymnastics from the beginning through proper skill progressions on all four disciplines: Floor (tumbling), Vault, Beam and Bars.  Basic dance, flexibility, conditioning and strength will also be developed.

IF you are interested in your daughter being evaluated (the evaluation is simple and painless – little to no gymnastics experience is OK) please see Lynn at the Front Desk or ask for Coach Dan.

Open Evaluations: 

Friday, December 18 at 4:00pm

Saturday, December 20 at 9:30am

If interested in attending an open evaluation, arrive 5 minutes early with your daughter, who should be wearing comfortable clothes (leotard preferred, but not mandatory). 

Evaluation will last only 10-15 minutes.

BEGINNING THIS FALL:  STARS Gymnastics "Day to Play" Pre-School Camps (8:30am-12:30pm).  Available weekly or daily, our NEW "Day to Play" Camps will help children develop balance, coordination, strength and flexibility through gymnastics, games, arts and crafts and more.  The day will also consist of snack, stories, crafts and playtime using shapes, parachutes, bean bags and more.

STARS "Day to Play" is also great for Play Dates:  with a group of 4 kids, we will create a custom play date just for you!  ANY DAY AND ANY TIME!  Call or email for details.

On Saturday, August 6, STARS Gymnastics held its annual "End of Summer Challenge."  Gymnasts have been working hard all summer and performed brilliantly.  All around winners for each level were:

On Saturday, February 26, we will be holding a Routine and Skills Clinic.  This will be a very important and beneficial clinic for girls of all levels:
 
New Level 3s:  will be learning the Level 3 beam and floor routines they will use in competition, as well as backhandsprings
 
2nd Year Level 3s:  will be working on Level 4 skills and learning exactly what is expected of them to move up
 
New Level 4s: will be learning the Level 4 beam and floor routines they will use in competition
 
2nd Year Level 4s: will be working on Level 5 and optional skills (KIPS!) and learning exactly what is expected of them to move up
 
Level 5s:  will be working on Optional skills and learning exactly what is expected of them on each event to be able to move to Optional next spring.

STARS SPRING CHALLENGE -- MOCK COMPETITION -- Saturday, May 22

STARS Gymnastics is hosting an in-house competition featuring Levels 3, 4 and 5 on Saturday, May 22.  Competition begins at 9:00am with an entrance fee of $5 for adults, kids are FREE!  All money raised goes to purchasing new equipment for the gym.  GO STARS!

 

Level 7 Region 8 Regional Championships, Tupelo, MS

STARS Gymnastics is extremely proud of our first Regional Qualifier, Brooks Anne Harris.  Brooks Anne scored an impressive 9.7 to claim the Regional Vault title. She also finished 10th on the balance beam and 7th in the all around.

 

2010 Optional Season

STARS had a spectacular showing during the 2010 Optional season.  Including 1st Place Team (Prep Op) at the Magical Classic in Orlando and 2nd Place Team at the Presidential Classic at Disney's Wide World of Sports, our young team of gymnasts exceeded expectations.  Ending the season with a very successful showing at the State Championships in Daytona:

Exciting New Face Lift For STARS Gymnastics

Wow!!!!!   We have been very busy at STARS Gymnastics the last part of December and the first few weeks of 2010.  Lets start with the new state of the art 42' x 42' spring floor  with a newly designed 2" cross layered foam system thats allows for better take-off and landings for our gymnasts.  Topping this off is the specially design 45' x 45' carpet by GMR.  The look and feel of this system is fantastic as it has instantly become the center focal piece of our new gym.

Now, this is just the beginning.  A 14' x 14' Gymnastics Foam Pit that is 6' deep and filled with almost 2,000 8 cubic inch high density foam cube blocks was also constructed and recently just completed.  Our gymnasts are in heaven and just having a blast trying all sorts of new skills into their pit.  We expect their skill level to jump to new heights very quickly. Our gymnasts are very excited with everything we have accomplished and it's just a wonderful way to begin the year 2010.

Now, add to all this a visit from our friend 3 time Olympic Champion Svetlana Boguinskaia to work on  floor and beam routines for some of our optional gymnasts.  Having Svetlana in or facility always brings a stir of excitement and the flashing of cameras.

2009 Level 4 State Championships

The 2009 Level 4 State Championships were held in Coral Springs and proved to be a valuable learning experience for our young team. All 11 gymnasts were competing in thair first ever State Championships and did a great job. Everything for a new team is a learning experience and to compete in a venue far from home in a large arena in front of the ladies in blue, large audiences and a host of competitors can be difficult. We are pleased to report that there were no falls on beam, and many of the girls scored personal best on individual events.

The highlight of the meet was Reyna Guggino who scored a 9.85 on Vault to become the 2009 State Vault Champion. We are proud of everyone.

 2009 Level 3 and 5 State Championships

The State Championship Meet was held at the Lakeland Center in Lakeland where over 500 gymnasts competed for top honors and it was another great meet for Stars Gymnastics. A lot of great coaches, teams and gymnasts filled the arena as they were about to compete in their last compulsory meet of the Level 3 and Level 5 competitive season. After two long days of some great gymnastics three memebers of The Stars Gymnastics Team came back home as State Vaulting Champions.

Everyone is anxious to put these routines aside and concentrate on the excitment of training new skills and routines. Our plan at STARS is to always work hard and push forward toward new and higher goals.

Gene Stowe Invitational 2009

The Gene Stowe Invitational was another great meet for Stars Gymnastics. Some very high individual scores flashed on the marquee as we continue to reach for the stars. Our young gymnasts are becoming more confident with each and every meet. Their progress and effort is becoming evident in the competitive atmosphere of a meet situation.

Sarasota Sunfest 2009

The Sarasota Sunfest 2009 was hosted by the Sarasota Sunbeams of Sarasota and it was our 3rd meet of the season for our young gymnasts. What an outstanding weekend of performances by all our gymnasts and teams. We again were impressed with their individual effort and focus during the meet. It was quite evident that our preparation in the gym is on the right track as their execution of routines is now beginning to take on a whole new meaning. We of course realize there is much more to be addressed and accomplished but it was just a lot of fun to see our gymnasts do so well. Congratulations to all!!

One more step along the journey. As we move forward we will work on raising the bar in all aspects of training. We fully expect with the success of this meet that our gymnasts will come in excited and eager to learn and you just can't ask for anything more than that.
